Bio
Cheb Runner moves between Brussels, Rotterdam and Agadir with the same ease that he moves between visual art, club scene and performance. An autodidact audiophile, he develops self-built tools that intersect with digital possibilities, embedded in traditional sounds and practises. He embodies a new sound of inbetweenness, shaped by different worlds while moving freely across time.
Drawing from firsthand field recordings and a personal archive of traditional instrument samples, accumulated over years of research and practice, Reda playfully merges analogue and digital textures, supported by a unique collection of synthesizers and other gear.
His versatility extends beyond music into his work on stage and within the broader cultural field. Being on of the forces of (A)WAKE foundation, from working with Meriem Bennani in Sole Crushing on immersive Flipflop installation to exploring physicality and force alongside Khadija El Kharraz Alami, and from his DJ-sets where he moves seamlessly between his own productions and unexpected selections, Cheb Runner continuously shifts between roles, formats and contexts.
